Early this morning, I lost a good friend of mine, very tragically- at the young age of only 20.  He is survived by tons of friends, family, brothers & sisters and even a (almost) 4 year old son.

I am looking to start a foundation in his name to offer an array of things.  But for now, I am trying to raise money from family & friends in order to help his family out with the funeral costs, and the hospital bills (prior to his passing).

*Once I figure  out the steps to starting a foundation, my goals are to offer the following from the foundation: scholarships to African American students in local high schools who portray similar characteristics of my friend, information and seminars in local schools to provide information about: alcohol use, gun safety and suicide, eventually I'd like the foundation to grow large enough commercially where I can provide an after school program for children who need a safe place to go while they wait for their parents to get out of work and even possibly a place for children to turn to whom have lost their parent/s/ tragically.  In addition, I want to provide support to young children whom lost their parents, in order for them to still live their life, and become successful even though they had to endure a tragic event. And, in one way or another, I want to be able to be sure that my friend's son, as he grows up, is able to attend college and make something of himself to make his father proud.

*Right now, my goal is to raise $3000 to help the family with funeral costs & the hospital bills they are now stuck with.  After that,  donations will be used towards the 1st scholarship.

If you are interested in donating to help the family with the tragic financial burden please donate any amount you can to, in the memory of Marcy Jones:

Catholic Charities, 607 N. Franklin St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
